Calendar Voting Result
Posted 2/6/20

Dear Monte Vista Parents and Community,

Voting was completed last Friday, January 31, and the ballots were counted on Monday after school. Votes for next school year's (2020-21) calendar choice were counted by our Instructional Council Chairperson, Julie Crocker and Instructional Council parent/PTA President, Emily Griffin. Many thanks of appreciation to both of them for completing this task. The results were submitted yesterday to our Zone 1 Associate Superintendent, Dr. Gabriella Blakey using the District required School Calendar Selection Form.

The majority of both our Monte Vista staff and Parent/Community voted to keep our current Traditional Calendar for next school year beginning in August, 2020.

When the voting data is converted to percentages, the following information can be presented:

  • Staff Voting: 73%
  • Parent/Community Voting: 22% (same percentage of families who respond to yearly Quality of Ed surveys)
  • Staff voting for Traditional Calendar: 72.5% of those who voted.
  • Parent/Community voting for Traditional Calendar: 80% of those who voted.

Thank you to each of you who took time to vote on this important district and state-wide issue.
